Chosen websites closed. Administrator access off. A person you trust holds the keys.
xgate runs on a Mac and keeps the sites you name shut except for short, scheduled windows, and keeps administrator access off except on request, after a pause. The rules can only be loosened slowly. Your Guardian, a person you choose, holds the only administrator password and can change the rules from this site.
Sets and windows
Group sites into sets, each with hours, a length, a count per day and a cooldown. Everything else stays closed, subdomains included.
Admin on request
No standing administrator. Ask, say what for, wait out the pause, get a temporary account that vanishes when the window ends. Tampering during it is undone.
A Guardian
Someone you trust holds the password and the recovery key, hears if xgate stops or is tampered with, reads a short weekly report, and changes the rules from here.
Breaks
Fifteen minutes away in every two hours, or the screen locks. Time at the lock screen counts; an automation moving the mouse does not.
Coming: xgate for everyone
xgate is in daily use by its maker and is being prepared for a wider release on macOS, with Windows, Linux, iOS and Android to follow under one Guardian. Leave your address to hear when it opens up. Nothing else is done with it.
